
Kelly Cook, MPH, BSDH, CDA- graduated from Oregon Institute of Technology with a BS in Dental Hygiene and an emphasis in education and management in 1999. She worked as a federal employee and contract hygienist and dental assistant for the U.S ARMY in Heidelberg and Wiesbaden Germany from 1999-2003 and as a clinical dental hygienist in private practice from 2004-2007 in Temple Texas and later Mooresville, NC. In 2007 she began working for the NC Oral Health Section as a Public Health Dental Hygienist in Forsyth County where she also finished her Masters in Public Health in 2008. In 2011, she joined Forsyth Technical Community College as the Clinical Coordinator for the Dental Assisting Program, where she managed the dental assisting clinical rotations for students in the community dental education clinic and within participating dental offices. In 2017, she took on the role of Program Coordinator for the Dental Assisting Program, where she currently manages the operations of the dental assisting program and curriculum. In 2019, Kelly was promoted to Professor rank at Forsyth Technical Community College. Kelly has taught both dental assisting and dental hygiene courses during her tenure at Forsyth Tech and she continues to pursue her passion for public health dentistry by organizing community clinics and student learning engagement activities when possible. Kelly also participates as an instructor for the Community Dental Health Coordinator program through Catawba Valley Community College. Kelly holds dental hygiene licenses in Oregon, Texas and North Carolina.
At the local level, Kelly has served in many capacities in the Forsyth Component, as a delegate during NCDHA’s Annual House of Delegates, for five years and as component trustee for two years. At the state level, she has served as Chair of the Membership Committee and a member of various other committees, including most recently the Strategic Planning Committee.
Kelly is married and has two boys, Levi and Luke. She enjoys spending time with her family camping and doing all things outdoors.
