Melissa McLain, CDA, RDH, has over 18 years of experience in the dental profession, and is licensed in both North and South Carolina! Melissa attended York Technical Community College in Rock Hill, South Carolina where she received her Certified Dental Assisting training. She furthered her education by attending Catawba Valley Community College (CVCC) in Hickory, North Carolina, where she received her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene in 2017. She is currently pursuing her Bachelors of Science Degree from East Carolina University.

Melissa currently works part time as a clinical hygienist in the Hickory area and is an Adjunct Clinical Educator at CVCC. Additionally, Melissa enjoys volunteering frequently with organizations that provide free dental and dental hygiene services to members of the community, such as Sandy Ridge dental bus, Foothills Veteran’s Stand Down and the Colgate Bright Smiles Bright Future mobile dental clinic.  

Melissa is extremely active within the NCDHA and has served in many roles within her local component, Foothills,including past Component Chair and Trustee. In addition to serving as the current Secretary of NCDHA, she is also the Junior ADHA Delegate, representing North Carolina at American Dental Hygienists’ Association’s annual House of Delegates. Melissa is a huge advocate for the advancement of the dental hygiene profession in North Carolina. Her goal is to ensure that all residents of North Carolina have access to preventative oral care, regardless of race or socioeconomic statusShe for expanded duties for dental hygienists

In her free time, she is a member of the Hickory Junior Woman’s Club and Phi Theta Kappa. She is married to her best friend, Dustin. They have two teenage children Lauren and Alex, and is a dog named Q. She enjoys traveling with her family, watching her son play travel baseball is currently preparing to send her daughter Lauren to college!
