A message from the North Carolina Dental Society Foundation:
The NC Dental Society Foundation is committed to serving underserved populations through the work of its outreach programs. Through the Foundation’s Missions of Mercy (NC MOM) clinic program, adults from underserved households are provided free dental treatment – individuals who have few or no other options for care. In North Carolina, the problem of access to dental care has reached nearly epidemic proportions. More than one million adults and children have no source for regular dental care. Many have never seen a dentist, and many suffer the complications of advanced dental disease. The Foundation’s MOM program is staffed by dental community volunteers from across the state and funded by donations to the NC Dental Society Foundation.
Your time and donations are needed! Volunteering at a Missions of Mercy clinic allows a renewed sense of commitment and service to our communities and our state. It is a soul-satisfying experience because it comes from the goodness of your own heart, with no expectation of receiving anything in return. Your service at a MOM clinic also highlights the continued problem of access to care to the citizens, legislature, and leaders of North Carolina.
In addition, each year the Foundation impacts thousands of children throughout the state with education and direct services. The Foundation supports initiatives that help veterans and military families who are serving our country. To date, it has provided nearly $50 million in free dental care to over 250,000 patients.
