A Message From the President.

North Carolina Dental Hygienists’ Association

Office of the President

Dear Colleagues,

As your president, I am honored to serve alongside such dedicated professionals who embody the very best of dental hygiene in North Carolina. Each of you plays a vital role not only in delivering quality oral health care but also in shaping the future of our profession.

🦷 Advocacy Our collective voice is powerful. This year, we are intensifying our advocacy efforts at the state level to ensure that dental hygienists are recognized as essential providers in the broader health care system. By engaging with legislators and policymakers, we are working to expand the scope of practice, protect our professional autonomy, and secure fair representation in decisions that affect our patients and our careers.

💪 Strengthening the Profession The NC Dental Hygienists’ Association is committed to supporting you through continuing education, leadership development, and networking opportunities. Together, we are building a stronger professional community—one that values innovation, embraces diversity, and fosters collaboration. Your expertise and dedication are the foundation of our profession’s growth, and we will continue to invest in resources that elevate your skills and expand your impact.

Improving Access to Care We know that oral health is inseparable from overall health. Yet, too many North Carolinians face barriers to care. Our association is working to break down those barriers by promoting community-based initiatives, supporting legislation that increases access, and partnering with organizations that share our vision of equitable oral health. Every patient deserves the opportunity to achieve a healthy smile, and together we can make that vision a reality.

I invite each of you to stay engaged—whether by attending our upcoming events, joining advocacy campaigns, or mentoring the next generation of hygienists. Your participation strengthens our collective mission and ensures that our profession continues to thrive.

Thank you for your commitment, your passion, and your unwavering dedication to the patients we serve. Together, we are advancing dental hygiene and improving lives across North Carolina.

With gratitude and determination,

Rachel R. Stewart MPH-D, RDH
